As we respond in faith and repentance to what God has done through Jesus Christ on the cross, we begin to see God has not only entrusted us with life in general. He has entrusted us with new life in the gospel (2 Corinthians 5:17). Thus, it is this gospel God has given us in which we are to share. Because we have come to know the fear of God, we make it our aim to please Him by becoming ambassadors, or representatives, for Christ (vv. 9, 20). We serve Him to make an appeal and to persuade others to entrust their lives to the gospel of grace. With the love of Christ as our motivation, we seek to spread the message. And what exactly is this message? It is the message of reconciliation. We were separated from God because of our sin, but Christ came to die for us and to reconcile us back to God. In turn, as we have been reconciled back to God, we must call others to be reconciled to the one true God. Sin separates us from God but the gospel reconciles us to Him. Indeed, this is the message we need to be bringing to our work places, meetings, and anywhere else. Yes, our lives are meant for more than just 9-5 on weekdays or surviving for the weekend. If we fall prey to thinking the opposite is the case, we are missing the boat. God has given us everyday opportunities to share the message of new life and the hope there is in it. The necessary understanding of our lives in relation to the gospel is that we are entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation and are called to persuade others to be reconciled to God. This is because being entrusted with the gospel calls for us to share it with others (2 Timothy 2:1- 2). The eternal hope we have is meant to be shared with others. And this is what we will do. Now, while that may seem to be an intimidating thing to do, to share and speak to someone you do not personally know (or do know) about something so personal, take heart: God has given us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit assures and guarantees our salvation. He also gives us the boldness to go about spreading this Good News. The ultimate target for true life change is the heart. This is what it means to be entrusted with the gospel.
